Celebrate Mayday by reviving a lovely and long forgotten tradition. Create your own fresh floral Mayday basket to gift to a friend and keep one for yourself.

Through the 19th and 20th centuries, May Basket Day celebrations took place all across the nation as the month of April rolled to an end, people would begin gathering flowers and candies and other goodies to put in May baskets to hang on the doors of friends, neighbors and loved ones on May 1.

Floral designer, flower farmer and educator Susan Stremlau has fond memories of creating hand made Mayday baskets growing up in the mid west. She’ll share her memories and demonstrate the art of floral design so you can create your own small act of kindness to share.
